MANATEE
The
taxing authorities conduct public hearings annually on their proposed budgets
for the upcoming fiscal year. The discussions at these hearings regarding proposed
spending are a determining factor as to how much tax you will pay. The dates,
times and locations of the hearings are printed on your Notice of Proposed
Property Taxes or "TRIM" notice. If you wish to express your opinion,
you are encouraged to attend. At the final budget hearing the authority will
set the tax (millage) rate necessary to fund the authority’s proposed budget. You
should contact the taxing authority directly for additional information. Cities/Towns (General) - The Cities/Towns provide all general and administrative government services including law enforcement, maintenance and sanitation.
Municipal Services Taxing Unit

Park and Recreation Districts - These districts provide physical facilities and specialized activities for property owners within the districts, not county-wide. West Coast Inland Navigation District
- WCIND is responsible for the management and maintenance of the Fire Districts - The fire districts
in
Southwest Florida Water Management District - SWFWMD is responsible for managing the water resources within its 16-county jurisdiction to ensure an adequate supply to meet both current and future needs while protecting and maintaining the natural systems which provide the district with its water supply.
